Dear Lokahi Ohana,

It’s that time of year again when I need to lean on people in our community to help those that are less fortunate. In the past I’ve always been able to count on support from my fellow paddlers, but this year I’m hoping to have an even larger turnout! It’s a great way to “give back” AND get exposure to our club, especially if you wear your Lokahi shirts.

Saturday, May 11th, is the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive…the largest single-day food drive in our nation.

Unfortunately donations have been down, but needs have been up. so the Petaluma Salvation Army is in critical need of non-perishable food to replenish the stores needed to feed the vast quantity of people coming in for food and services.

We hope this year’s food drive will bring in more food than ever before…and therefore we need as MANY volunteers as possible to help us sort/crate/store the tons of food that will be collected that day by our US Postal Carriers.

Volunteers are needed from 4pm – 8pm at the Salvation Army HQ (721 South McDowell). It’s TONS of fun and we will feed you, maybe not Auntie’s ono shoyu chicken, but it’ll be something good!
